History of the Organization |
|
| |
The concept of Intersure - an
organization composed of
executives from successful
insurance agencies - was
developed in 1965 by Al Singer
of Singer Nelson Charlmers in
Teaneck, New Jersey. Singer's
idea was to form an
organization with
international representation
for the purpose of attracting
larger accounts and competing
with the public houses, etc.
The name Association of
International Insurance Agents
(AIIA) was selected for the
new organization, and the
first meeting was held March
4-6, 1967, in New Orleans,
Louisiana, with four agencies
attending. The purpose of the
group was to bring together a
highly sophisticated,
versatile and knowledgeable
collection of firms which
would perform functions for
each other in their individual
areas of expertise which would
otherwise be impossible due to
territorial restrictions.
Meetings have been held twice
a year - spring and fall -
since 1967 at a mutually
acceptable location. An
exchange of ideas has been the
inevitable product of these
meetings. Every partner comes
and shares with another. Two
additional meetings have been
added to include Marketing and
Employee Benefits
representatives from each
member agency.
AIIA, aka Intersure, has grown
into a consortium of the
best entrepreneurial and
technical minds in the
insurance industry.
